The Church of San Tommaso (Saint Thomas), dating from the Middle Ages, is the only valuable religious building remaining in Anzola d’Ossola. It is still possible to identify the Roman origin of this religious building, even though numerous subsequent restorations have considerably altered the original design.
Originally the Church was dependent on the Parish Church of San Vincenzo in Vergonte and subsequently on the nearby church in Premosello-Chiovenda. The Church of San Tommaso officially became a Parish Church in 1603. To celebrate this important religious recognition, the inhabitants of the village of Anzola d’Ossola built a massive bell tower.
The patron saint of the village, San Tommaso, is celebrated on 21st December.
