The first “must-visit” destination for snowkite enthusiasts in Ossola Valley is in fact located beyond the Italian border, though it is so close to Ossola that it can be considered part of the district.
Indeed, the Simplon Pass can be easily reached by car from Domodossola and is always windy. The Simplon location offers routes of varying difficulty, from the easy plains around the Hotel Monte Leone to the first hills near the pass and the demanding ascents on the peaks of Spizthorli, the Staldhorn and towards the Bistinen Pass.
