VisitOssola recommends for your snowkiting experiences in Ossola Valley the spot located in upper Formazza Valley, near Lake Kastel. To reach the lake, you have to depart from Riale (the last village in the upper valley accessible by car): from here, ascend the path that leads to the Maria Luisa refuge on foot (it takes around an hour, involves a height different of 500 metres and follows a track that is nearly always well-trodden – always inquire about the state of the snowpack and the route before you leave, by contacting the refuge or Mountain Center Formazza).
The Lake Kastel location features winds from both the south and the north: it offers excellent areas for snowkiting beginners and almost infinite freedriding. You can reach Passo San Giacomo, Val Toggia and Val Rossa, crossing incredible landscapes.
