In Sogno, a small outlying hamlet of Villadossola, a 16th century building that has been restored and returned to its former charm now houses the Museo della Civiltà Contadina (Rural Life Museum), inaugurated in 2007.
This museum preserves the memory of the arduous work of country folk, shepherds and woodsmen: displayed inside are a large number of tools, the result of the intelligence and experience gained thanks to centuries-old traditions handed down over time. Customs and traditions from far-off times, showing the hard farm work that characterised the Ossola Valley. There is also elegant embroidery, created by the expert hands of the village women, who devoted themselves to embroidering in the evenings, in the farmhouses, after long days of work.
All the material on show is accompanied by captions and information sheets, duly written strictly in local dialect, to recover and preserve the local linguistic heritage.
