The Church of San Giulio in Cravegna, a hamlet of Crodo in Antigorio Valley, is characterised by a Romanesque-Gothic architectural imprint, with a splendid façade and valuable paintings depicting John the Baptist in the choir section. Its interior, structured into three naves, is really very impressive and leaves a lasting impact on visitors.
Written evidence confirms the existence of the original church in Cravegna as early as 1291 and its origins date back even earlier than that. Of this Romanesque church, a precious image of the Madonna del Latte (Nursing Madonna) remains. Initially painted on the façade, it was later placed inside the new church, at the end of the current left aisle.
Easily accessible by car, the Church of San Giulio di Cravegna is today one of the most important religious buildings in the entire Ossola Valley.
