The Ossola Valley hosts numerous events for all tastes and ages: Domodossola and its valleys offer a packed calendar of events, from spring to winter, not to mention cool summer evenings, providing opportunities for recreation and culture.
The summary below is just a preview: all the main events can be found in the dedicated section of VisitOssola, which is constantly updated.
The summer festivals are certainly some of the busiest in the calendar: from the Musica in Quota alpine concerts to the music, performance and outdoor events of Tones Teatro Natura, to the Malescorto International Short Film Festival, the Ossola Guitar Festival and the Domosofia cultural festivals in Domodossola (which also hosts a major summer exhibition at Palazzo San Francesco) and Sentieri e Pensieri in Santa Maria Maggiore.
The area has a strong, outstanding gastronomic tradition and plenty of festivals and events dedicated to local products. Sagre Ossola brings together and promotes the main events devoted to gourmets, from spring to autumn.
Certain events are deeply connected to the region, its roots and people: the International Chimney Sweep Convention in the Vigezzo Valley on the first weekend of September and the Fair of San Bernardo in Macugnaga are two notable examples.
There are many sports on offer: from mountain running to rallies and winter snowshoeing, there are dozens of events for outdoor enthusiasts.
Following the autumn events, which include tasty events dedicated to seasonal fruits and the unmissable Foliage Train, the winter period is full of Christmas markets (the most famous of which are in Santa Maria Maggiore and Domodossola) and other charming events (including the nativity scenes on the water in Valle Antigorio).
A wide range of unforgettable events await you, along with exciting shows and extraordinary opportunities to enjoy the unique character of the Ossola valleys, in the heart of Europe, in the heart of the Alps.
