The summit of Laurasca, known as “Piz d’la Brasca” by locals, lies at the border of Valle Vigezzo. It allows you to admire the beautiful wilderness of the Val Grande National Park, as well as Val Pogallo, dominated by Pizzo Marona and Monte Zeda. There may be a danger of avalanches during the last part of the climb.
ASCENT:
From Malesco, in the Vigezzo Valley, follow the road that leads to Val Loana until the hamlet of Fondi li Gabbi. Continue along the road to Le Fornaci at 1344 m. Descend to the river and cross it. Heading south-west, go up the valley, aiming to follow the summer path to Alpe Cortenuovo at 1792 m. Turn left and continue to Alpe Scaredi at an altitude of 1840 m. Head south, slightly descending into the basin below, and ascend the next slope, passing to the left of a rocky rampart. Veer right and take a diagonal route down steep terrain to a ridge. The following part requires caution and there may be a danger of avalanches: cross it with a traverse halfway up, on foot if necessary, until you reach a small basin, from where you can reach the south-west ridge. After crossing the ridge, follow the southern slope up to the Cima della Laurasca.

From Gravellona Toce, follow the Ossola SS33 motorway until the exit for Masera/Valle Vigezzo, then continue to Malesco. From the town, take the Valle Cannobina road and turn immediately right to Val Loana.
