Ski mountaineering at Cima Camughera
Difficulty
Medium
Period
Winter

A beautiful ski mountaineering climb that is the perfect route for “amateurs” and for those wishing to take a trip into the silence of the woods, where you can just bump into hints of animal tracks.
Overall, it is a long, demanding trip and in the first part of the forest, it is not easy to find the route. You must pay close attention to red marks on plants, which allow you to follow the summer route. The view of Bognanco Valley mountains is truly captivating: you can admire them from a very special angle!

Description

ASCENT:
From the hamlet of San Martino, Bognanco, follow the dirt road until you reach the hamlet of Picciola, then continue up to a hydroelectric plant. Cross a small iron bridge over the Bogna stream, then turn right and continue alongside the stream. After an initial stretch, return on the left side of the mountain and take the barely visible dirt track that leads to Alpe Forno at 1083 m.
Continue, veering sharply to the left, and, after passing the pastures, enter the forest, following the summer path, which rises very steeply. Near a landslide, keep right until you come to the Corte Sasso huts. Continue south into the forest, always aiming to move slightly to the left (follow the red marks on the trees), cross a small valley and follow a final steep section up to Alpe Garione at 1634 m.
From here, you can admire the Camughera peak in all its splendour: go back up the pastures above the huts and keeping left, cross the wide valley, continuing through the forest until you come out into open terrain. Proceed to the Passo D’Arnigo at 1990 m and head east up the steep slope from the pass, keeping close to the northern edge until Cima di Camughera.

DESCENT: Same route.
