A short distance from the village of Re, with the majestic Sanctuary of the Madonna del Sangue and the Italian-Swiss border of Ponte Ribellasca, a short excursion to a pleasant and panoramic place in the Vigezzo Valley, among well-preserved pastures and huts.
Description
Once you’ve reached Dissimo car park (860 m – 2822 ft), where finding a parking space is not always easy, take the Via al Monte that crosses the upper part of the village, along a rather steep climb. Leaving behind the last houses, the clear and well-marked path (M41) first crosses some meadows and then plunges into the woods. After crossing a small stream, the mule track climbs in zigzag fashion to the first mountain huts of Monte di Dissimo. Here you can enjoy a beautiful view across the upper part of the Vigezzo Valley with the villages of Re, Folsogno and Olgia, as well as the unmistakable Monte Gridone and the upper part of the “Centovalli” (literally: hundred valleys), in Swiss territory. The route turns right towards the east and becomes flat, after about 200 m (656 ft) it comes to a fountain with benches for picnics and a lawn for children’s games. You can go down the same way you came up or, just above the fountain, on the right of the chapel, along the flat dirt road that makes a broad turn before descending to Alpe Caviano (1060 m – 3478 ft). Here it becomes paved and descends to reach the main road that connects Dissimo with Olgia. Turning right on the same road you reach the village of Dissimo.
