From Druogno to Re, the hike along the Via del Mercato is a slow walk through the spectacular Valle dei Pittori organised by the Vigezzo Valley division of the Club Alpino Italiano.
The walk is a fantastic way to explore one of the historic roads of the Ossola Valley, which for centuries facilitated the exchange of goods between Italy and Switzerland, and offers a ‘slow’ tourism experience, where visitors can take the trains of the Vigezzina-Centovalli railway line to reach Druogno from Domodossola and on the way back from Re.
The Vigezzo Valley’s main villages constitute the stages along the Via del Mercato, and become an occasion for discovering a variety of traditional, Vigezzo-grown products, kindly offered by local associations.
