Snowshoeing Foppiano-Alpe Genuina

From the Pizzo del Frate hotel, follow signs south for the G7 route to Passo della Colmine and Alpe Genuina. You will soon enter a beautiful mixed forest and, following the clear track, you quickly reach the Alpe Camplero huts (1380 m). Resume the ascent and make a sharp left turn at the next junction, from where you can reach Alpe Cavoraga (1410 m) in just a few minutes. Now continue along the wide, clearly visible track, which gains altitude in the forest until you reach Passo della Colmine (1605 m). After the signposts, follow the red marks, which are placed in appropriate positions high up on the trees, slowly follow the ridge, enjoying the silence and atmosphere of the forest, until you arrive at Alpe Genuina hill (1695 m).
From here, you can enjoy a magnificent, thrilling panorama. In the centre of the snowy clearing, there is a group of huts in good condition, which encircle a tank dug into the rock entirely by hand. It contains rainwater that flows from the roofs of the surrounding buildings. Looking around and considering the harsh environment in which the mountain is located, you realize how much work and love man has put into these places. You will never want to abandon this paradise, but hurry back because it will soon be in shade! In any case, when you arrive at the hotel, you will be able to warm up by the fireside…

Pizzo del Frate Hotel, Foppiano di Crodo (1250 m)

From Crodo, follow signs for Mozzio-Foppiano. The road is tarmacked and snowploughed up to Foppiano. Snow is always cleared from the hotel’s parking area.

You can also return by descending from Genuina to Alpe Cheggio, then crossing over to Alpe Flecchio and finally climbing back up to Camplero and retracing the initial path. However, this alternative route is only recommended if the trail is well-trodden and it is only suitable for hikers who are very experienced in walking in snowy mountain conditions and know the route.
