Snowshoeing Druogno-Alpe Campra

Vigezzo Valley is the valley of painters, partly due to the stunning landscape that will open up before you on a snowshoeing excursion. These routes, created by the local branch of the Club Alpino Italiano, are an excellent way to retrace several paths that are very popular in the summer, but much less busy in the winter.
They are generally not well-trodden routes, unless the opposite is specified. It is therefore always advisable to check snow conditions and to carry equipment that allows you to safely enjoy these winter experiences in Ossola Valley.
You can access Vigezzo Valley by following the motorway until the Masera/Vigezzo Valley exit and then trunk road 337, following signs for Druogno.

Description

From Orcesco car park, head towards the village, climbing in a south-westerly direction until you come across a dirt road. Follow this road for a short flat stretch to the right. You will reach the signposted junction with the mule track, which comes from the hamlet of Orcesco and rises south-west to a wide depression.
After a couple of sections on a slight slope, interposed with a short ascent, you reach Rio Lupo valley, which you can cross via a wooden bridge. On the opposite side, the mule track rises with regular hairpin bends into the beautiful beach forest, heading predominantly southwards. Further up, you will come to the dirt road. This road, which is flanked by a few rocky outcrops, has replaced a stretch of the mule track, which resumes on the left of the road a little further on. You will encounter the road again just before you enter the Alpe Motta pasture, which completely ascends and then briefly re-enters the forest, where a short section on a slight slope takes you to the large snow-covered pastures of Alpe Campra, from where you can admire much of Vigezzo Valley.
