The Museum of Mineralogy is dedicated to Giorgio Spezia, a famous mineralogist and scientist born in Piedimulera, who lived in the 1800s.
The exhibition is on the ground floor of Palazzo Protasi and is divided into three sections; the first is devoted to the minerals of the Valley, the second to mining and processing of the stone, while the third documents the history and the precious gifts of ancient local gold mines.
The museum, set up as part of the Ministerial project “Local Development of Italian Mountain areas” is intended as a tangible expression of a community striving to revive the traditions, culture and works to make their cultural identity known, preserving it and passing it on to future generations.
