The Ossola Valley is the land of multi-pitch rock climbing, but that’s not all it offers: the wonderful Antigorio Valley, in Upper Ossola, is the land of bouldering!
There are more and more fans of this speciality and in Foppiano, a splendid alpine pasture at 1200 metres above sea level, at the foot of Mount Cistella (also accessible by car from Crodo, the county seat of the Antigorio Valley), the love for bouldering began in 2009.
Since then, thanks to gatherings that attract more and more people each time, the number of mapped areas has grown, starting from 150 boulders in 2012 and today reaching more than 300 stones with 700 blocks.
Bouldering is fun and completely “wild” climbing! A discipline born around the ‘70s, it involves “free” climbing on medium to large boulders up to a height of a few metres, without the use of ropes or harnesses.
