Soapstone and Stonemason Ecomuseum – Malesco

Casa Trabucchi in Malesco is today home to the Ecomuseo ed leuzerie e di scherpelit, the soapstone and stonemason museum.
Casa Trabucchi has a very interesting history, which allows you to better understand the events that took place in Malesco and the Vigezzo Valley. Already used as a house-hospital, until the early decades of 1900 it was also home to the village nursery.
The Trabucchi, of humble origins, emigrated to Paris as chimney sweeps. Later, having become wealthy thanks to some entrepreneurial activities, they decided to donate a quality health facility to the town of Malesco. This is how Casa Trabucchi came to be known as Ospedale Trabucchi.

The Ecomuseum in Malesco, which consists of points of interest scattered throughout the area and three museums, protects the entire cultural, environmental and traditional heritage of the village.
Spokesperson for the Malescan community, this spread out museum enhances the community’s intangible assets, thanks to the inhabitants’ strong bond with their roots, and with knowledge, trades, products and practices from the local tradition.
