The Cà di Feman da la Piaza is housed in a 17th-century stone building in the historic centre of Villette, a small town in Vigezzo Valley. It takes its name from its last owners, two old maids from the village who the inhabitants called in dialect “i feman da la piaza” (The women of the square).
The museum’s collection is the result of a precious collaborative effort by the entire community of Villette. Through the exhibition of original objects related to agricultural and dairy activities, mountain works and everyday farming, the life and ancient customs of the Vigezzo Valley are evoked. Upstairs, in the first room you’ll find tools for the processing of textile fibres on display, along with a splendid scale reconstruction of a mill. The second room is home to a real curiosity: the small wooden benches from the old Villette school, completing this journey into the memories of a mountain past.
