The Malescorto International Festival was first held in Malesco (Vigezzo Valley) in 1999. Organised every year by the local eco-museum, the Malesco Town Council, the Val Grande National Park and the Associazione Cercando il Cinema, the festival is one of the most highly acclaimed short-film cinema events in Europe.
For a whole week, Malesco becomes a hub of visual arts, screening every year an increasing number of short films from all over the world; the mixture of different cultures and styles in the various short films, then, gives the Malescorto festival an international vibe.
The short films selected for the festival are screened every evening at the Malesco cinema and shown to the enthusiastic audience and a panel of judges, whose task is to decide the winners to be proclaimed on the last day of the festival.
